Red Store, Cape May Point, 8/10
Pleasantly shady in the park across from the Red Store this morning, where Karoline, Diane, Bonnie, Pam and I painted.
Only managed to get one good reference photo, of this young girl walking her dog.
After painting we had lunch, and Karoline and Pam talked to members of another plein air group. How lucky was that? They must know some good spots to paint.
Other locations we discussed today were the Cape May Yacht Club and Willow Creek Winery, and we talked about finding more shady spots at the Point.

I can't believe this took me two hours to do (or overdo).
I've noticed lately, especially when painting outdoors, that reds seem to be absorbed by the paper more than other colors ...

ideas for locations
1. I'd like to go to Benny's Landing ... A favorite of Marie's. I've never been there
2. Devil's Reach, Cape May, at the end of Yacht Avenue (look it up on Google maps.) There's a little parking lot at the end of the street, from where you can see the Lobster House and some fishing boats. Wawa nearby for bathrooms. No shade to speak of here, though. So maybe somewhere to consider in fall.
3. The Fisherman's Memorial, Cape May. There's a little beach, with some trees, overlooking Cape May Harbor ... usually a couple of sailboats moored there. The Nature Center's not too far for bathrooms.
4. Beach Plum Farm, West Cape May.
5. Hughes and Page Streets. Hughes was a favorite of Marge Chavooshian's. There's shade; a good opportunity to paint architecture. I painted these there.

photos of plein air locations
Here's a good place to share photos taken on location ... Here are a few of mine that I think might make good paintings or parts of paintings ...

Our blog ...
Hi Everyone. This blog will be a place for us to post our paintings, reference photos, ideas for locations, and whatever else might interest the group.
And a reminder: Monday, August 1, Hereford Inlet Lighthouse, North Wildwood. 9 till whenever.
I called and made sure it was okay for us to there, and said we'd be careful not to block others' paths.
